Exclusive interview of Kuldeep Sharma (Congress leader & the Chairman, Cooperative Union A&N Islands) by Dr. Dilip N Pandit

The union territory of A&N Islands is a potential region of tourism, but the number of existing Tourism Coop. Societies is not up to the expected level. He reiterated that 'cooperative' is the only weapon to uproot/ eradicate the problem of unemployment. Therefore, new cooperative societies in different sectors, particularly in the aforesaid three sectors are to be opened in these islands. At the same time more and more Self Help Groups are to be opened by the women folks. Vocational courses and training could reduce unemployment among youth. The dynamic change in socio-economic condition 'cooperation' can bring to run a cooperative society smoothly and effective, training of personnel concerned is a must among their other qualitative components like devotion, sincerity. Stressed must be given on formation of much more cooperative societies in three sectors, tourism, fisheries  and construction sectors of these Islands. About one-fourth of the total water-area of our country is lying around A&N Islands, but its wealth is not being harvested by us. Similar is the condition of Tourism Sector. These views were expressed by senior congress leader and the chairman, A&N State Cooperative Union A&N Islands. ShriKuldeepRai Sharma. To motivate youth, he stressed the need of self realization among them. Youth must be given opportunities to expose their potential. He has long been dedicated in supporting people and Initiated social activities through Old Age Homes (OAHs) running computer courses and encouraging Self Help Groups (SHGs) to stress upon women empowerment. Under his guidance and support, more that 12000 senior people got avail of pension and other facilities. Apart from these activities, his dynamic support made youth financial independent through getting free computer course training. Shri Sharma feels that cooperative concept must be imbibed by youth especially those want to get self employment. There is no dearth of potential and intellectuality among our youth. The need of the hour is to get that realized. His views on SHG as  Self-help groups are started by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that generally have broad anti-poverty agendas. Self-help groups are seen as instruments for a variety of goals including empowering women, developing leadership abilities among poor people, increasing school enrollments, and improving nutrition and the use of birth control. Financial intermediation is generally seen more as an entry point to these other goals, rather than as a primary objective. His message to the youth is that they must think positive and believe in self strength because this very spirit could be turning point of their future. Youth have immense power to change the direction of the wind or even the rotation of the earth.

Fundamental Success scripts being true to your word is easy

Say you’re going to do something and then do it. If you make plans to meet your friend, don’t ditch him for some random date. Likewise, if you commit to go on a date with someone, don’t back out at the last minute for no good reason. If you don’t want to commit, don’t commit. If you’re not sure whether you can, check and see. If circumstances change and you have to adapt or postpone the arrangement, that’s fine too. If someone doesn’t want to make an appointment and then realize he’d rather chill instead. He doesn’t want to give ... Read More
